Case study: Development of glass bottles for Panama Blue Water
Getting to know the client:
Panama Blue Water is a premium mineral water brand known for its purity and its origin in a primitive forest in Cerro Azul, Panama. This water comes from springs deep underground and is directly bottled after being naturally filtered by volcanic rock, making it rich in minerals and highly purified.
Currently, the brand offers 5 different sizes: 330ml, 500ml, 1000ml, 1 gallon, and a large container.
The challenge for Panama Blue:
The brand wanted to incorporate glass bottles into their range of sizes to meet the demand of environmentally conscious consumers who are concerned about the impact of plastic usage. However, the unique shape of their bottle and the need to transport them without damage to the filling plant while maintaining the transparency of the glass posed significant challenges for developing this solution.
The solution from BPS Glass
Our team at BPS Glass worked on designing glass bottles with capacities of 330ml and 750ml, maintaining the original shape of the Panama Blue bottle and the transparency of the glass through our consultancy, design, engineering, and quality control services.
During the development of this bottle, we presented plans, renders, 3D printed prototypes, and glass samples so that our client had certainty about the progress of this new bottle. Additionally, we offered comprehensive advice on selecting the appropriate cap, quality control, and logistics throughout the entire development process of both bottles.
We also developed the secondary packaging as a solution to safely transport the bottles. We proposed a full-color laminated cardboard box for greater protection. The Panama Blue bottles fit perfectly in this packaging, which also includes the appropriate separators to protect each bottle.
The solution provided by BPS Glass allowed Panama Blue Water to enter new international markets that demanded this type of packaging. The brand now plans to continue producing glass bottle sizes with BPS Glass, leveraging their experience and innovative design and production solutions to overcome the challenges of the unique bottle shape and the need to transport them without damage.
